Resources for Reading is now a part of the Pioneer Valley Books family.
Resources for Reading offers a wide variety of materials and supplies for Reading Recovery® and early literacy teachers—magnetic letters, easels, magnetic boards, reading games, writing journals, phonics materials. We have them all available on a single order with a single set of purchase order paperwork.
Resources for Reading was founded in January 1994 by a Reading Recovery® Teacher and her engineer husband. Along with the other teachers in her Reading Recovery® training group, she had trouble locating sources for the materials she needed.
Most difficult to find were things like magnetic letters, which are a powerful literacy learning tool. They help build alphabet fluency and support advanced readers in learning decoding skills. We found manufacturers around the world who make the letters in different styles and collected them together here for you. We also offer magnetic letter trays specially designed for letter instruction.
We negotiate with many manufacturers across the globe to make products to our specifications, exactly what literacy teachers need. Our student writing journals are custom-made with extra-heavy 70# unlined white drawing paper, so our permanent markers will not bleed through, and you can use both sides of the page. Our send-home book bags are perfect for protecting books and papers you send home with your students—they’re made exclusively for us, and aren’t available anywhere else!
Now a part of the Pioneer Valley Books family, at Resources for Reading you’ll find an array of magnetic letters, easels, dry-erase and magnetic boards, plus all the ancillary materials you need to implement early literacy programs in your classroom. In addition, we have a wide variety of reading games and motivational aids for early literacy teachers, including materials for letter recognition, phonics and phonemic awareness, word building, vocabulary, guided reading, and interactive writing.
Above all, our primary concern remains your convenience and satisfaction.
